Portrait Process:
1.The portrait begins with a two hour
photo session. If the situation allows,
several life study sessions will be
scheduled where the subject will sit for
a loose oil sketch to be completed.
This is helpful in achieving the final
likeness with regard to skin tones etc.
2. Back in the studio, several
compositional sketches are developed
and submitted to the client for approval.
3. The work begins with one or more
detailed sketches to finalize all aspects
of the composition.
4. The sketch is used as the basis for
the first of many painting layers. The
painting is then developed in stages,
with drying time needed between each
painting session.
5. The final stages of the portrait are
critiqued by professional colleagues to
ensure the highest quality regarding
likeness, technique and artistic merit.
6. The final piece is delivered to the
client.
